The English dailies today headlined news pertaining the opening of the Global Transformation Forum (GTF) yesterday, whereby Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Alibaba founder Jack Ma launched the first ever Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) that will provide Malaysia with a brighter future.

Next Phase Of Growth – Najib along with Jack Ma launched DFTZ to generate more wealth for Malaysians, The Star highlights. DFTZ is expected to generate trade worth RM286bil by 2025; double the export growth of SMEs by 2025 and create 60,000 jobs; and create a new Kuala Lumpur Internet City to house 10,000 Internet firms and 25,000 tech professionals.

Digital Leap – Following the launch of the world's first DFTZ, New Straits Times reports that the collaboration with e-commerce giant Alibaba Group is in line with plans to place the Malaysian economy firmly at the centre of the global marketplace.

NTP CheertheSun reports during the GTF at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Najib conveyed that the National Transformation Programme (NTP) will be responsible to create 1.8mil jobs, increase Gross National Income by nearly 50%, reduce poverty by 0.6%, and provide relief for 7.28mil households with below RM3,000 monthly income through BR1M.
